Website Hosting Options

In this day and age, getting a website online is a lot easier than it used to be. All you need is a domain name, basic design, then find a hosting package to upload it to and you’re all set. Now of course this all sounds easy but even choosing a hosting package can be difficult. Mainly because there are so many different options to choose from.

Here are some common website hosting options:

Shared Server

This is the most affordable option when choosing a hosting package. You basically get access to a server to put your website onto and it is shared with other sites. You get a certain amount of disk space and bandwidth and if you exceed it you may have to pay more money. But the prices are usually very affordable and it can be done fast. The only drawback is if someone else runs a script that they shouldn’t and causes the server to go down, you lose your website during this time.

Host Your Own Site

This option isn’t that common but is possible. You can basically turn a PC into the server. You need special software to do it but it means you don’t have to pay monthly hosting fees. It can be troublesome though if your internet connection isn’t reliable as no one will be able to access your site.

Dedicated Server

Website Hosting OptionsA dedicated server is the professional choice if you are serious about your online business. You get your own server which is managed by a company. You get a lot more space and bandwidth and most importantly the only sites on the server are yours. So no one can run any scripts and close down the server. The only disadvantage is the cost but it is small in comparison with the benefits you get in return.

So there are many website hosting options to choose from, so take your time and weigh up all the options before deciding which one is best for you.
